 Funny story of the Cat and Bird

One fine morning, a hummingbird was sitting on the branch of a huge banyan tree. The beautiful feathers on his body were shining in the sunlight. The male was very happy, all day long he was flying from branch to branch, eating fruits and roots, and humming various songs. The whole forest would come alive with the sweet melody of his wings and voice.

But Shalik's happiness was overshadowed by a forest cat. This cat was intelligent and cunning, always trying to catch birds. He thought, “If I can catch this frog today, it will be a good meal for me!”

The cat hid and stood under the Shalik tree. Hiding himself behind the vines under the ground, he stared at Shalik. His eyes were shining with the desire to catch prey.

Shalik was also quite clever. He knew that the cat was cunning and was probably trying to trap him. So he understood the vision of the cat from a distance. Then the Shalik began to sing in a sweet voice, as if he did not understand anything.

The cat thought, “The shalik must not have understood anything. Now is the time to catch him!” He slowly started coming towards the tree.

Just then, the shalik flew up with a flap of its wings and sat on a branch above the tree. The cat was shocked. He stood and thought, “This is not an easy prey. I need to get smarter.”

The cat said very sweetly to Shalik, “Oh Shalik! You sing so beautifully, I am fascinated by your melody. I wanted to come closer to hear your music. Will you come down and play another song?”

The lady was amused and said, "You really like my music?" I did not know! Well, I'm coming down.”

The shalik came down a little and sat on another branch and started singing again. The cat thought, “Now I can catch him!” He came closer.

But the Shalik suddenly became silent. He said, “Well, cat brother, you've been asking me to sing for so long, but you haven't brought me anything. I'm so hungry!”

The cat was a little worried, but then smiled sweetly and said, “Oh, you're right. You are my guest, and I will bring you something.” The cat thought, "Well, if I have a little patience I will surely be able to trap the fox."

The cat quickly fetched a small fruit from the neighboring garden and threw it at Shalik. The woman laughed and said, "This is enough! But I want something bigger. This little fruit will not satisfy my hunger.”

The cat was a little annoyed. He thought, “What a trouble! But I must continue until the Shalik is caught.” He again brought a big fruit from the garden next door.

Shalikati got more fun this time. He said, “Oh cat brother, you are very generous! But can you sing me a song? I want to hear your sweet voice.”

The cat was really disappointed this time. He will sing! It is not possible for him. But he wisely said to Shalik, "Well listen, I can't sing, but if I bring you some more food, will you sing another song?"

Shalik then said with a funny smile, "Wow! You are very clever! But cat brother, you'll have to be patient if you want to listen to my funny songs. First you bring some food, then I will sing for you.”

The cat then ran and fetched more fruit from the neighboring garden. But Shalik had already realized that the cat was trying to trap him. So he spread his wings and flew towards the sky. The cat stood stunned.

Thus, the cat's cunning succumbed to Shalik's intelligence. The cockatiel flew away and sat on another tree in the forest singing sweetly, and the cat began to think in despair, "How I have been defeated by this little bird!"
